Asus’s New Tri Flavors Shows-off at MWC

Amongst the top ASUS three flavours, Zenfone 5 Lite, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5Z, the latter two have been the real stars of ASUS’ announcement. The Zenfone 5 and 5Z are so identical that you can barely distinguish it. Only the processor and storage configuration has made it separable. We’ve collected all the available information about the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5Z, so read on below for everything you need to know.

Asus Zenfone 5/5Z design and screen

The ASUS Zenfone 5Z and ASUS Zenfone 5 both have glass-covered bodies, with a flicker design in Midnight Blue or Meteor Silver. Alike the iPhone X, it has a notch at the top. The bezel-less screen has allowed for a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio giving it the form factor of a 5.5” phone. Both phones come in at 155g with a super widescreen 19:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution.

The phone screens are IPS LCD and should work via gloves. The two phones can set their colour temperature based on the ambient lighting.

Asus Zenfone 5/5Z camera

The ASUS Zenfone 5Z and ASUS Zenfone 5 have two cameras on the back with a 12MP Sony IMX363 with f/1.8 main camera and a 120-degree wide-angle secondary lens, which is used to fit more while taking a snap.

Embedded with the AI camera features, both phones are designed to record video in 4K allowing to detect and manage the type of scene being shot and adjusting the settings accordingly.

Both phones have front-facing camera of 8MP f/2.0 camera with Night HDR and portrait support, selfie panorama, and GIF animation.

Asus Zenfone 5/5Z specs and power

The ASUS Zenfone 5Z has 8GB of RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset, the standard Asus Zenfone 5 has just 4GB of RAM and a mid-range Snapdragon 636 chipset. The Zenfone 5Z also has more storage, with up to 128GB/256GB built in, compared to 64GB on the standard Asus Zenfone 5, though both also have a microSD card slot which leads to an additional 2TB storage. The two headline phones also run Android.

The ASUS trio models have 3,300mAh batteries, and while we don’t know much about the Zenfone 5 Lite’s, we do know that for the standard Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5Z. Both phones have same capacities and are with BoostMaster(fast charging). The newly added feature ‘AI Charging’, which means the battery can monitor your charging habits doubling the lifespan of it. With the AI charging feature, you can leave your phone plugged in all night which will provide no harm to your phone like others. It automatically charges up to 80 percent and leaves it.

 

Asus Zenfone 5/5Z release date and price

ASUS hasn’t unveiled the particular release dates for its new handsets yet, but it has said that the Zenfone 5Z will have a starting price of $479. No details regarding Zenfone 5’s exact sale price neither the official announcement for its sale have yet been revealed. However, both the phones are expected that they will be coming with Hi-Res earphones during their sale.
